Few waterfalls in the world empty directly into the sea: just six kilometres from Kribi, on Cameroon's southern coast, the Lobé River ends its course in the Atlantic Ocean via a cascade roughly twenty metres high.
The phenomenon, one of very few recorded worldwide, has earned the site international recognition: it appears on UNESCO's World Heritage tentative list under the name "Cultural Landscape of the Lobé Falls."
