On 24 June 2026, at the initiative of the Turkish ambassador to Cameroon, a meeting was held in Yaoundé between the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The purpose of the gathering was to discuss the ongoing humanitarian challenges in Cameroon's North-West and South-West regions, as well as mechanisms to support the affected populations.

The North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon are facing a severe humanitarian crisis, with thousands of people displaced and substantial humanitarian needs.

The IOM plays a key role in the humanitarian response to this crisis, providing assistance to displaced persons and supporting efforts to rebuild affected communities.

The Yaoundé meeting enabled diplomatic mission heads to gain a deeper understanding of the humanitarian challenges in the North-West and South-West regions and to discuss ways to back the IOM's and Cameroonian government's efforts to address these challenges.

Developments are awaited to see how diplomatic partners and the IOM will collaborate to meet humanitarian needs in Cameroon's North-West and South-West regions.
