Cameroonian centre-back Enzo Boyomo remained at Osasuna when the summer transfer window closed on September 1, despite months of interest from Premier League clubs. Under contract with the Pamplona club until June 2029, he did not receive any offer sufficient to trigger his release clause.
That clause, set at around 25 million euros (close to £21.7 million), put off several genuinely interested suitors. Everton, who had been tracking the situation since spring, Brighton and Sunderland were among the interested English clubs, alongside Italy's Como.
Having arrived at Osasuna from Real Valladolid in August 2024, Boyomo established himself as a reliable starter at centre-back, also able to play on the right side of a back three. His physicality and tackling had made him a sought-after profile for the Premier League.
At no point during the summer did Osasuna suggest it would let its defender go for less than the clause amount. That firmness eventually discouraged negotiations, with no club putting forward a matching offer before the September 1 deadline.
Boyomo staying on comes as the Indomitable Lions' defence is also going through a period of transition, marked by André-Frank Zambo Anguissa's international retirement from midfield and the search for lasting solutions at the back ahead of upcoming 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
The 25-million-euro release clause remains active until the next transfer window, which will not open until January 2027. Until then, Enzo Boyomo remains an Osasuna player, under contract for nearly three more years.
