On the morning of June 16, 2026, Yaoundé’s Palais des Congrès buzzed with a first‑of‑its‑kind event: Team Europe inaugurated the second edition of EU Business Week, a forum dedicated to investment and partnership between the European Union and Cameroon.

The organizers’ ambition is clear: to give greater visibility to investment projects in Cameroon while consolidating the economic ties already forged with EU member states. This business week forms part of the International Fair of Enterprise, SME and Partnership, which annually brings together the key players of Cameroon’s economic fabric.

By placing investment at the centre of its programme, Team Europe aims to attract European capital to sectors deemed strategic, notably agro‑industry, renewable energy and digital technologies. The agenda includes bilateral meetings, financing workshops and pitch sessions where Cameroonian companies can present their projects directly to European investors.

For small and medium‑sized enterprises, the stakes are twofold. On the one hand, they gain an international visibility platform that transcends national borders. On the other, they access support mechanisms—loan guarantees, technical assistance—that can accelerate their journey from idea to large‑scale production. The message is unequivocal: Cameroon wants to become a preferred destination for foreign capital while strengthening its own entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In the broader context of EU‑Cameroon cooperation, the event marks an important milestone. The two sides have already signed several cooperation agreements in vocational training and energy transition. EU Business Week therefore consolidates these advances by creating concrete bridges between policymakers, financial institutions and private‑sector actors.

Team Europe representatives stressed that the success of this edition will depend on local companies’ ability to present solid projects aligned with European priorities on sustainability and innovation. Cameroon’s authorities, for their part, reaffirmed their commitment to provide a stable regulatory framework conducive to investment and the creation of sustainable jobs.

As the week unfolds over several days, expectations are high. If early feedback proves positive, EU Business Week could become a growth catalyst, stimulating not only capital inflows but also skill transfer and the development of new industrial sectors. The gamble is bold, but it fits the momentum of a Cameroon seeking to position itself as an economic hub at the heart of Francophone Africa.
