Cameroon is about to host a major intercontinental event, the 51st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, which will take place in Yaoundé in two weeks.
According to the organising committee, chaired by MP Hilarion Etong, nearly 400 participants are expected at the event, which aims to promote cooperation and solidarity among French‑speaking countries.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie is an institution that brings together parliamentarians from the member states of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, and its purpose is to strengthen ties between French‑speaking nations and promote the values of the Francophonie.
As host nation, Cameroon has set up an organising committee to ensure the event’s success, which will provide a forum for legislators to discuss issues of common interest and deepen relations among Francophone countries.
The gathering will also give Cameroon an opportunity to showcase its image and bolster its ties with other Francophone nations, a development that could have positive repercussions for the country’s economy and politics.
