On July 7, 2026, the Executive Board of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) confirmed the decision to permanently expel Willy Mengue from its ranks.

The decision was taken on grounds of acts described as “betrayal, a clear refusal to adhere to the party’s political line and discipline, repeated and blatant violations of party statutes, manifest insubordination and repeated disloyalty toward the party’s leadership.”

Willy Mengue had been brought before the National Mediation and Arbitration Committee (CNMA) by Joseph Taffo, who accused him of those acts.

According to the document, Willy Mengue had labeled the current MRC president as illegitimate and called for the restoration of legality within the party.

He also claimed that there are two MRCs – one original and the other “in vitro,” allegedly seized by Maurice Kamto.

The party regards these statements as a breach of its political line and the disciplinary rules that govern the organization.

The CNMA noted that Willy Mengue did not submit any defense after being served with Joseph Taffo’s complaint.

The expulsion could have significant repercussions for the MRC and for Cameroonian politics at large.

Future developments are awaited to fully understand the implications of this decision.
