Desert in the north, savanna, dense equatorial forest in the south, mountains in the west, an Atlantic coastline: few African countries pack in this many landscapes within a single territory. That's what earned Cameroon its nickname, "Africa in miniature."

The diversity extends to language too: the country is home to an estimated 250-plus languages and dialects. Another quirk traces back to the post-1919 partition of the former German colony of Kamerun between France and the United Kingdom: official French-English bilingualism, with eight majority French-speaking regions and two majority English-speaking ones.
