Osasuna said no. The Navarra club rejected Ajax Amsterdam’s loan-with-purchase-option bid for Enzo Boyomo and is holding out for one thing: a straight sale, or nothing.

The 24-year-old Cameroonian centre-back was one of Osasuna’s bright spots last season, with 29 La Liga starts. Under contract until 2029, he has yet to play this season as his name circulates on the market.

Ajax’s interest is no coincidence: coach Míchel Sánchez knows Boyomo from his time in Spain and wants to strengthen his backline. But Osasuna sporting director Braulio Vázquez confirmed several bids have come in for the Cameroonian, valued around €15 million, and the club favours an outright transfer.

The two clubs’ logic diverges. Osasuna wants to lock in a profit rather than risk a loan with no guaranteed return; Ajax prefers a lighter deal to test the player before committing to a purchase.

For the player, it’s as much sporting as financial: a move to a bigger league would raise his profile, while a loan would guarantee something scarcer this season — regular minutes.

With the 2027 AFCON approaching, this lack of regular competition weakens Boyomo’s standing with the Indomitable Lions. The deal remains in Osasuna’s hands, and the club has shown no sign yet of budging on the loan.
