André-Frank Zambo Anguissa officially brought an end to his international career with the Cameroon national team on August 31, 2026, via a statement posted on his Instagram account. The 30-year-old steps away from the national team following a continuous nine-year tenure that began in the spring of 2017.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa announced his international retirement on August 31, 2026, on Instagram. The midfielder amassed 67 caps and scored 5 goals for Cameroon following his debut on March 27, 2017, against Tunisia. His final international appearance came on October 13, 2025, against Angola in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Teammates including Michael Ngadeu, Collins Fai, and Georges-Kévin Nkoudou publicly paid tribute to his career.

The announcement comes as head coach David Pagou finalizes his squad selection for upcoming qualifiers. Following a 2025–2026 campaign sidelined for four months by hamstring and back injuries, the midfielder has opted to focus his efforts on his club career with Napoli in Serie A.

Cameroon's technical staff must now reshape the midfield setup ahead of September's fixtures, paving the way for a new hierarchy in the Indomitable Lions' engine room.

With Zambo Anguissa's departure, Cameroon closes the book on a key player who represented the green, red, and yellow jersey across three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and one World Cup.
