Starting on opening day of the new Ligue 1 season, Danny Namaso scored a penalty in AJ Auxerre's 5-2 loss to Lens on August 22, 2026 — confirming his status within the Burgundy club's project.
The Cameroonian forward joined Auxerre in the summer of 2025, loaned by FC Porto with a buy option set to trigger automatically if the club stayed in Ligue 1 and he logged enough playing time. Both conditions were met: Auxerre secured its survival on the 34th and final matchday with a 2-0 win over Lille, while Namaso closed his loan season with 30 appearances, three goals and three assists.
The buy option, covering 60% of the player's economic rights for €5 million, was therefore triggered automatically. Auxerre officialized the permanent signing in July 2026: Namaso is now under contract until June 2029.
The goal against Lens was not his first in Ligue 1: the winger had already scored three the previous season while on loan.
